Read The Entire Bible In Under 15 Minutes

Published on October 31, 2019

You may be like most people who have the good intentions of reading their Bible every day, but simply don’t do it.  After all, your life is hectic and the Bible is…well…long. You might think to yourself, “that’s going to take forever to read.” Well, in this article, I am going to show you how to read the entire Bible in under 15 minutes!

For many people, time management is a majorly underdeveloped skill. This isn’t to say that there are not a lot of things going on because there is no doubt that life is busy. Frequently, people come to me at various houses of worship and they confess that they are interested in reading the Bible, they want to increase their Bible literacy, and some even tell me that each year their New Year’s resolution is to read the Bible in its entirety. But much like the commitment to lose weight, when February arrives, the donuts have begun to make their appearance again and the Bible has gone missing.

Ironically, finding the time to do other tasks doesn’t seem like such an impossibility. In a 2018 survey conducted by Crossway, they found that 70% of participants spent 30 minutes or more engaging in email, 59% in TV, 55% in books other than the Bible, and if you add up Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter, it’s a whopping 71%.  Yet in that same 30 minute time span, you could read the entire book of Jonah and still have 22 minutes to make a quick dash to Starbucks or Chick-fil-a.

The truth is that people make time for what is important to them. They also prioritize things which may appear less daunting. Admittedly, the Bible can appear daunting, especially if you consider that the entire Christian Canon consists of 66 books with a total of 31,102 verses! You may have easily fallen into the ritual of taking care of something that you can complete immediately and putting off reading the Bible until tomorrow. But tomorrow becomes the next day, the next day becomes next week, next week becomes next month…it becomes a vicious cycle.

The key to changing all of that is actually reading the Bible, and the only way to do that is to actually pick up your Bible and read it daily! You may be asking, “I don’t have an hour a day to invest in reading the Bible, so how much progress can I actually make in my limited time?” The good news is that you don’t need to invest an hour a day to read the Bible. Although if you can find an hour, you can really enjoy some quality study that will change your life! Since you don’t have an hour, could you invest 30 minutes? How about 15 minutes? Would you believe me if I told you that you don’t even need that much time?

If you could invest 12 minutes per day, you could read the entire Christian Bible in one year! That’s right- only 12 minutes per day. But it requires you to actually pick up your Bible every day, open it up, and start reading. For a small 12 minute a day investment, your life can be transformed by the Word of God. All you need is a Bible, the ability to read, and 12 minutes.
